Queen's Court School recently participated in the 2023 Vacation Initiatives in Science Africa (VISA to Science) program. The program was held at the Nuguchi Memorial Research Center in the University of Ghana, Legon, under the theme "Science in Tent."

The VISA to Science program is a three-day summer camp that aims to promote science education among young people in Africa. The program provides students with the opportunity to learn about different scientific disciplines through hands-on activities and experiments.

The students from Queen's Court School participated in a variety of activities, including:

  • Extraction of Banana DNA

  • Robotics

  • Exploring the principles of engineering

  • Learning about the environment and how to protect it

The students also had the opportunity to visit the Nuguchi Memorial Research Center, where they met with scientists and learned about their research.

The VISA to Science program was a valuable experience for the students from Queen's Court School. They learned about different scientific disciplines, met with scientists, and conducted experiments. The program helped to foster their interest in science and inspired them to pursue careers in STEM fields.

The Future of Science Education in Africa

The VISA to Science program is an example of the growing interest in science education in Africa. There is a growing recognition that science is essential for economic development and that Africa needs to produce more scientists and engineers.

The VISA to Science program is a valuable contribution to the future of science education in Africa. It provides students with the opportunity to learn about science in a fun and engaging way. The program also helps to raise awareness of the importance of science and to inspire students to pursue careers in STEM fields.

I hope that the VISA to Science program will continue to grow and that it will inspire more young people in Africa to pursue careers in science.
